Could you imagine that apple goes good with lemon? This cake recipe combines, cake and lemon sauce (lemon sauce recipe seperate). In the end? A recipe that tastes great and lets you use that lemon sauce you’ve had sitting around.

We’ve modified this recipe to make a smaller serving of Apple with Lemon Sauce Cake
2 medium apples peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 cups sugar divided
1/8 cup water
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2/8 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
Lemon Sauce
Preheat oven to 350. Butter an 8-inch square cake pan.
First you’ll need to add your sliced apples to a prepared cake pan. Next combine lemon juice, 1/4 cup sugar, and water; pour over apples and mix thoroughly. Let this sit while you prepare the cake batter recipe.
Combine flour, the rest of the sugar, some baking powder, and salt; cut in vegetable shortening with a pastry blender until shortening is the size of very small peas. Make a hollow in the center of the flour mixture, and add egg and milk; mix until just combined (batter should have small lumps in it). Pour batter over apple mixture and bake for 45 minutes.
Serve the cake with Lemon Sauce spooned over it.
